This project is offered for the ISSMGE TC202: Transportation Geotechnics – Task Force 1: Promotion of the use of non traditional materials in embankments and structural layers

Aims and objectives
The aim of the project is to make recommendations for promoting the use of alternative materials for constructing transportation embankments, foundations and other earthwork structures. In achieving this aim, the following objectives must be met:

? For these case studies, determine the barriers and drivers to the use of alternative
materials;

? Determine when and where alternative materials have been used in the in the
construction of Transportation-related embankments, foundations and earthwork
structures

? For each barrier and driver, make detailed recommendations as to how these could be
overcome/utilised to increase the usage of alternative materials

? Make recommendations for any further research that is required
