Experimental Procedure – 8% The procedure describes in detail the process that you used during the investigation. Use concise language to describe each step chronologically. In some cases, you may use an ordered or bulleted list of directions. The instruction need to be clear and specific enough so someone can repeat the same experiment with similar results. Results and Discussion – 50% In this section, all results must be presented including all relevant calculations and data analysis. The results and data analysis can be presented in either tabulated and/or graphical formats. All graphs must be easy to read and contains proper labels and units. In cases where the same calculation is used repeatedly, a sample calculation is sufficient. If there are a lot of raw data and they are important, you can include them in the appendix at the end of the report. Discussion, on the other hand, is the meat of your report. It shows your reader how that you can explain, analyze, and interpret the data and tease out information that is not readily observable. This part of the lab focuses on the significance or meaning of the results. You should include and compare results from similar investigations, discuss and analyze experimental errors, discuss the strengths and limitations of the experimental design, suggest future improvements to the existing design, and propose future investigations based on your findings. Conclusion – 15% The conclusion needs to be short and concise. It must include the major findings and how it is related to the intended or the purpose of the experiment. References – 5% You should include the lab manual, textbooks, and any other outside reading or websites you may have used.
