Research paper on the movie The Dark Knight

A summary of Rene Girard’s theory of mimetic violence.
Use the theory as a filter to analyze The Dark Knight. Which ever binaries you use, strive to find the one or two that address the major issues of the film especially as it intersects with American pop culture and religion in terms of violence. For instance, the Batman as a hero figure uses violence to stop violence. This appears similar to the way Girard understands the nature of religion and violence. How is peace and justice established? And how does that fit in a Girardian paradigm?
The paper should end with some reflection about the effectiveness of the Batman’s solution to Gotham’s problems of violence. Does Girard’s theory answer all the questions? Is it the best solution to the problem of violence? Were there other avenues that were introduced in the film but not explored adequately?
