For this assessment task must identify a current media story relevant to the topic; find a media release that relates to the topic; and find an academic journal article from the Public Relations literature that is relevant to the topic and which will allow a more complex and sophisticated discussion of the topic in the essay discussion. This component of the task is designed to develop and encourage research skill, and understanding of how issues can be discussed from different perspectives.

The essay should explain why the issue is a Media issue, why it is a Public Relations issue and it should identify and define the primary publics concerned with the issue and explain their specific interest or relationship to the topic/issue being addressed.
