BIOH12008 Assignment Topic “ T1 20112

Recently, a 27-y-o male was found dead in his home with no obvious cause of death. As such, an autopsy was deemed necessary to determine the cause of his death. His autopsy revealed some unusual arterial pathology, which has led to the naming of a new disease, Peripheral Aneurosclerotic Syndrome, or PASS.
Examination of his arteries revealed the development of dozens of small saccular aneurysms of approximately 3-8mm in size that were present in multiple peripheral arteries. The peripheral arteries are those further away from the heart; in the case discussed, specifically the arteries in the limbs. The pathology was limited to the peripheral vessels and was not observed in the aorta or any of the major arteries. None of the aneurysms were found to have ruptured. A large build up of atherosclerotic material was found within the aneurysms, and the aneurysms themselves were found to be inflamed. However, the inflammation and atherosclerosis were limited to the regions affected by PASS and was not found in other regions of the arteries.
A family member had revealed that as a teenager, the deceased had been a skilled martial artist, training several times each week for a number of years, although after a serious infectious illness, had been forced to retire as an athlete. At the time of setting this assignment, no other health information was available on this individual.
As this is a newly identified disease, you will find no information about PASS in any textbooks or articles. Findings of this new disease will be published in a scientific journal in the middle of . You will need to use your knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology to discuss the following questions.
In an essay of approximately 2000 words, please discuss the following:

(a) There are a number of potential underlying causes of PASS. Using your knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology and the history provided, please discuss three of the most likely underlying causes of PASS (acute or chronic) that would account for the observed pathology.

(b) Please discuss the likely cause of death of this individual, detailing how the pathophysiology of PASS would have contributed.

This is a difficult topic. Please make sure you get an experience writer who knows the anatomy and physiology of the body.
