a critical discourse analysis of doctors-patient interaction in alternative medicine.

This is a proposal for a research paper at the Masters level.
I would like to use Systemic Functional Linguistic theory in the application of critical discourse analysis of dialogue between doctors of alternative medicine (as apposed to traditional medicine).
The intention of the this research is to attempt to see the networks of dialogues with this context.

I would also like to refer to David Butts analyses of patient doctor interaction networks, since his analyses focused on surgical/medical doctors and has not resorted to analysing the interaction and language use of alternative medicine practitioners.I would like to see the difference in interactional networks of medical doctor-patient (Butt’s focus) and alternative medical doctors-patient networks of interaction.

thanks a lot.
